Chicken Chettinad Recipe: Ingredients
- Chicken- 1kg
- Poppy seeds-2 tspn
- Grated coconut-1/2 tspn
- Fennel seeds-1 tspn
- Coriander Seeeds-1 tspn
- Cumin seeds-1/2 tspn
- Cinnamon-1 stick
- Whole red chillies- 8
- Green Cardamom- 3
- Cloves- 2
- Turmeric- 1/2 tspn
- Onion- 1 large
- Chopped ginger & garlic – 2 tspn
- Star anise- 1/2
- Tomatoes- 3
- Lemon- 1
- Curry leaves
- Oil- 1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
Procedure to make this Recipe:
Clean the chicken, remove the skin and cut into Small pieces.
Chop the onions and tomatoes separately.
Roast the whole red chillies, grated coconut, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, green cardamom, cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds in oil and grind to paste for 20 mins along with ginger and garlic.
Heat the oil in a vessel and fry the onions till golden color, then add curry leaves and the ground paste and saute for some time.
Add tomotoes, red chilli powder and turmeric powder and stir it well.
Add chicken, mix and cook for 5 mins and then add 2 cups of water and 2 tspn of lemon juice.
Cover and cook till the chicken is done.
Now, Serve the hot Chicken Chettinad garnished with chopped corinader and accompanied with boiled rice / Rotis / tandoori naan.
